New lidar with 360 degree and 90 degree large field of view

Octa, a mass-produced 3D lidar product series for industrial mobile robots, provides a new intelligent sensor selection solution for AMR, unmanned forklifts, etc., which will lead the evolution of intelligent machine sensors into a new era.

Octa-UView is mainly aimed at the large field of view of unmanned forklifts, the horizontal field of view is 360 °, the industry will expand the vertical field of view to 90 ° for the first time, with a stable and reliable mechanical architecture to give the flexibility of radar vertical and horizontal installation, you can switch the ceiling navigation scheme at will or horizontal navigation scheme, the implementation of horizontal and vertical installation can be implemented ceiling navigation, feature point navigation, obstacle avoidance and pallet recognition functions, valid solution to the existing market products longitudinal field of view is too small, single radar use scene limited pain point.

Octa-AIO is mainly aimed at the All In One scene with strong obstacle avoidance requirements and the front installation requirements of AMR, latent forklifts, unmanned lawn mowers, etc. The horizontal field of view is 360 °, and the longitudinal field of view is -15 °~ 45 °. Compared with Octa-UView, the structure is more compact and thin. With the characteristics of high-density point cloud coverage, it can capture tiny obstacles in space more quickly, and the obstacle avoidance detection effect and response time implementation can be improved, especially the navigation obstacle avoidance solution that can perfectly replace the AMR single-line lidar + camera.

Innovative non-repeating scanning technology. The exclusive Triaxial Octagon ™ three-axis longitudinal non-repeating scanning technology, combined with high-frequency on-chip TDC technology, outputs hundreds of thousands of high-precision point clouds per second to ensure a point cloud form that takes into account the needs of intelligent machine obstacle avoidance, navigation and recognition. Take Octa-UView as an example, its point cloud form in the -40 °~ 50 ° space field of view is as follows (supports a minimum of 25ms coverage of 360 ° output, 300k/s):

IMU motion monitoring technology. Compact size and convenient IMU sync up output, able to detect object acceleration, angular velocity and attitude information in real time, combine point cloud and IMU data, and perform state estimation through kinematic model, enabling high-accuracy positioning and mapping implementation in dynamic environments. With 6-axis MEMS motion tracking ™ device, the maximum ODR is 32kHz, which can help the robot easily find any abnormalities or errors that need to be resolved during operation. The full scale range of the accel is increased to 32g, and the 1mg resolution allows substantial linear motion to be easily tracked.
Digital output X, Y, and Z axis angular rate sensors (gyroscopes), programmable full-scale range up to ± 2000 °/s, providing a solid reserve for industrial automation efficiency improvement.

Octa is equipped with a multi-channel transceiver module, which scans within 25ms for one week. Combined with ultra-wide-angle and high-density point cloud coverage, it can capture tiny obstacles in space more quickly. Compared with mainstream products in the market, Octa has a detection probability of 92.3% and 89.9% for 10cm × 10cm and 5cm × 5cm linear objects in space within 2 output cycles (ie 0.05s), and can detect almost 100% within 0.1s. Octa is expected to become a cloud-piercing arrow in the industrial robot sensor market, quickly subverting the existing laser radar application technology solution.

Enhance the efficiency of natural navigation and positioning in large spaces. In the field of unmanned forklifts, 3D SLAM is becoming the mainstream of technology, and Octa is a product specially customized for this scene. In the continuous pursuit of navigation effects, Octa has introduced new data processing algorithms and an exquisite optical scheme, which has greatly improved the scanning accuracy. Its dual-precision control in the horizontal and vertical dimensions, together with 3D feature navigation technology, has successfully resolved the hidden worries of collisions in the navigation process, effectively ensuring the achievement of accurate positioning, and then promoting work efficiency.
The following figure shows the coverage effect of 40,000 point clouds within 100ms based on Octa user test data, which is sufficient to support 3D SLAM navigation mapping operations in industrial sites.

Cost-effective implementation of high accuracy recognition problems. Octa’s non-repeating scanning technology increases with the integration time, the resolution shows a linear upward trend, and the point cloud shows a linear cross distribution, which can more keenly capture the obstacle information in the path and even the entire space. With the continuous accumulation of time, the detailed feature recognition effect is significantly improved. When the 800,000 point cloud coverage effect is achieved within 2 seconds, it can even implement the accurate recognition of human faces and the accurate identification of pallets.
The left high-density linear cross-point cloud in the figure below is like a complete wall and network, and can clearly distinguish the outline of the character, even the outline of the face and local features, including hairline, ears, etc. The right side of the figure is the effect of the recognition of the pallet in the industrial scene, which can intuitively determine the position of the pallet.
